Samsung’s New Chromebook Apparently Getting The Leather Look Of Galaxy Devices

Samsung’s next Chromebook has broken cover, courtesy of pro device leaker @evleaks, and the Chrome OS-powered notebook has a familiar design trait that’s becoming a Samsung trademark: faux leather. Like the back of its new NotePRO and TabPRO Android tablets, the back of the lid of this new Chromebook appears to sport the leather look, which stitching round the edge (evleaks also… Read More

The Whatsapp Effect

It’s no secret that many entrepreneurs and investors are seduced by the specter of network effects. Walk around any young company fine-tuning their product to fit their market or any early-stage investment committee meeting, and inevitably, network effects will be discussed. “How do we tweak the product to ignite a network effect?” “They’ve built a great product, but can it find a… Read More

Wallpapers of the week: natural photography

wotw lightning london eye splash

Continuing to grow with demand and reader input, the Wallpapers of the Week section is a quite popular place on the site for downloads. Additionally, the comment sections are becoming a repository of reader screenshots and images. For that, we thank you.

Over the past two weeks, super hero packs dominated the wallpapers of the week. They were met with much fan fair but it was suggested to move away from “themed” wallpaper sets. While I fully anticipate going back to the wallpaper themed pack options in the future, it is time for a change. Instead of created images, natural photography is stunning, when done correctly…(...)

Apple TV

When it comes to the Apple TV, it seems like everyone agrees that a new one is coming. But just when it will get here is a different story. We’ve heard everything from ‘as early April,’ to ‘before WWDC in June,’ and as late as ‘in the fall this year with Apple’s other product refreshes.’

The latest report, which comes from The Financial Times, claims that the refreshed Apple TV is finished and could land much sooner than everyone is expecting. Citing sources familiar with the company’s plans, the outlet says that Apple’s new set-top box could land “any week now.”

iOS 7: The ultimate Messages app guide

Ultimate guide header2

The stock Messages app in iOS 7 has undergone significant improvements over the years, and the latest version that ships with iOS 7 is the deepest and most feature-complete version of Messages yet. The Messages app is home to both traditional SMS messages, and Apple’s very own iMessage technology for intercommunication with other Apple devices like iPads, iPods, and even Macs.

How to create contact groups on iPhone

Contact Groups on iPhone

A few days ago, we published a post explaining how to create contact groups on Mac, so we thought it would be a good idea to show you how to do that directly from your iPhone or iPad as well. Creating contact groups on iPhone is a fairly simple process, however, it does require to install a third party application as the stock Contacts app for iOS doesn’t let you create and edit groups on the fly.

No one will argue that not being able to manage contact groups directly from your iPhone is a terrible limitation of iOS, but we’re not really here to discuss what could and should be.

In this post, we will show you how to manage contact groups on iPhone or iPad by using an application called Address Book Plus. Not only we will explain how to create contact groups, but we will also show you how to manage and edit these groups…(...)

Apps of the Week: Documents 5, ETA, Globo, and more

Apps of the weekI’m starting to worry about the weather in California. In my area, it rained pretty hard all day yesterday, but now the sun is shining down like it is a spring day today. Even in California, I’m just not used to all of this winter sunshine. “Winter is coming,” my foot.

If you are planning a trip to my side of the country this weekend and need to know how long it will take, or need a better way to manage your files, we have a list of apps and games we think are pretty darn good, rain or shine…(...)

Tim Cook holds iPad (with Katie Cotton, Jacqui Cheng)

When Tim Cook officially took over the CEO position for Steve Jobs in late 2011, he had some major shoes to fill. Jobs wasn’t just chief executive at Apple, he was also its co-founder, savior and visionary. And he was arguably one of the most famous leaders of our generation.

But Cook has done a good job thus far. Apple’s the most profitable company in the world right now, coming off another record-breaking quarter, and it has some big things planned for 2014. So what’s his secret? A new book about Apple post-Jobs attempts to answer just that…(...)
